444 Days Through Five Months of Winter
Panels were released to production in late November 2025. Delivery began January 22, 2026, on schedule or ahead of schedule, through the hardest stretch of a Fort Wayne winter.
Fort Wayne FC's move from USL League Two into the professional ranks of USL League One required a venue to match that ambition: a soccer-specific stadium built to anchor a growing club's identity in a competitive regional sports market. The project was 100% privately funded by majority owner Mark Music and developed on an aggressive timeline. Ground broke in April 2025. The first home match was May 2, 2026. That's 444 days, through a Fort Wayne winter that kept snow on the ground for five straight months.
Many sports facilities are still built using conventional methods: masonry block, built-up wall assemblies, exposed-fastener metal systems. These approaches can limit design flexibility and stretch construction schedules. For a fast-tracked, privately funded project with a hard deadline tied to the start of a professional soccer season, the building envelope needed to deliver architectural ambition without becoming a schedule or budget problem.
The building envelope was not a factor in any reported delay. Despite the compressed timeline and the severity of the winter conditions, Brucha's panel delivery and installation held. That's the kind of schedule performance that matters to GCs and owners when a hard opening date is tied to a professional sports season.
What is an insulated metal panel (IMP)?
An insulated metal panel is a factory-engineered building envelope system that combines an exterior metal skin, a continuous insulating core, and an interior metal liner into a single, pre-manufactured component.
Unlike conventional wall assemblies that require multiple trades and layers of separately installed materials, IMPs consolidate structure, insulation, air barrier performance, and finished surface into one integrated system, installed directly to structural steel in a single pass.

While IMPs have historically been associated with cold storage and food processing, the same performance characteristics are now driving adoption across sporting venues, data centers, advanced manufacturing, and institutional and commercial facades. Increasingly strict energy codes are accelerating that shift: as envelope thermal requirements tighten across commercial and public-assembly construction, the continuous factory-controlled insulation core of an IMP becomes a more straightforward path to compliance than a field-assembled layered wall system.
Why Sporting Environments Are an Ideal Application
Durability
Sports venues experience tremendous wear: weather exposure, heavy public occupancy, maintenance cycles, and event turnover, all sustained over decades. A factory-engineered panel system provides a robust exterior finish, long-term weather resistance, and reduced maintenance demand compared to field-assembled wall systems.
Efficiency
Operating costs matter at this scale. Large venues consume significant energy in conditioned spaces: suites, hospitality areas, locker rooms, and support facilities. A continuous-insulation IMP envelope reduces air leakage and thermal bridging relative to a layered, field-assembled wall assembly. Brucha's FP-60 panel carries an R-19 insulation value at 75°F, covering the overwhelming majority of this project's envelope at 47,699 of the 48,601 SF installed. The FPF-100, with a mineral fiber core, carries R-15 and was used selectively in areas where its fire performance was the deciding factor. Air infiltration for both panels is rated at no more than 0.01 cfm/ft² (ASTM E283), with no water penetration under ASTM E331, both certified per UL R39859.
Fire & Life Safety
For a public-assembly venue holding 9,200 people, fire performance isn't a secondary spec. It's foundational.
The FPF-100's documented 1-hour fire-resistance rating (UL 263) is the credential that matters most for public-assembly occupancies and the primary reason it was specified where it was.
Structural & Weather Performance
Brucha's panel system is independently certified to FM 4881 Class 1, +80 / −112 psf, the manufacturer's tested wind-load capacity. Brucha did not perform project-specific structural engineering for this building. The as-designed wind pressure for Ruoff Mortgage Stadium is governed by the project's structural engineer of record.
Modern Aesthetics
This may be the most overlooked advantage for an ownership group building a brand, not just a building. Today's sports organizations are brands first and venues second. Their facilities need to communicate innovation, premium experience, and a strong visual identity.
Traditional masonry and built-up systems often produce heavier, more utilitarian architecture. Brucha's FP-60 and FPF-100 V-Rib panel system, finished in RAL 9005 Jet Black with fully concealed fasteners, gave the project clean vertical lines and large uninterrupted black surfaces across the grandstand exterior. No visible thru-fasteners break up the finished face.
That same panel face became the canvas for Fort Wayne FC's brand language. Large-format applied graphics reading “BOLD. BRAVE. BALLERS.” and “FORTITUDE + ATTITUDE” run the full height and width of the panel system. The envelope itself became a piece of supporter-facing brand identity, not a neutral backdrop.
The Brucha Scope on This Project
Brucha's scope on Ruoff Mortgage Stadium was the exterior wall panel system. FP-60 and FPF-100 V-Rib panels, finished in RAL 9005 Jet Black with fully concealed fasteners, installed across the grandstand and suite-level facade. Mark Hoeppner Construction, Inc. served as general contractor. Debolt Construction of Indiana, one of three installers on site, installed Brucha's panel scope.

Brucha's panel scope was complete for Fort Wayne FC's first home match on May 2, 2026, the soft opening of the stadium. The formal grand opening followed on July 4, 2026, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Fort Wayne FC Majority Owner Mark Music, Ruoff Mortgage President Blake Music, and representatives of Greater Fort Wayne. The club then defeated Spokane Velocity FC 3–0 in front of a season-high crowd of 4,493. As of this publication, some phases of the broader stadium project remain under completion.
Brought In Through the Steel Trade, Not the Spec Book
Worth stating plainly: Brucha was not the basis of design and was not listed as a named alternate in the original project specifications. The basis of design called for Kingspan, with Metl-Span listed as the named alternate. Brucha was brought into the project by Western Steel Buildings, the supplier of the stadium's steel structure, as the only manufacturer eager to stand behind the black panel finish the project required. That's a different story than an architect-specified win, but arguably a more useful one for prospective owners and architects. It shows Brucha earning trade-partner confidence on a specific, harder-to-deliver finish, not winning on a spec sheet.
The Fort Wayne FC Opportunity
Ruoff Mortgage Stadium demonstrates how modern sports architecture is evolving and how the building envelope itself is becoming part of the brand expression, not just the enclosure. The project demanded performance, a fast-tracked installation, long-term durability, and a premium, contemporary appearance worthy of a club stepping into professional play.
It also demonstrates something less visible but just as important to owners and GCs: when a hard deadline meets a hard winter, the envelope doesn't have to be the thing that breaks. Fort Wayne's panel delivery held through five months of winter, and both the soft opening on May 2 and the formal ribbon cutting on July 4 landed with Brucha's scope never among the items holding the schedule back.
For ownership groups and architects building sports facilities that need to be efficient, visually compelling, and built to perform for decades, insulated metal panels are no longer simply an industrial solution. They have become an architectural one.
The envelope did its job here: performance, efficiency, and design freedom in a single system. That is what Brucha builds.
